To make this importance of this creature, The Thai Government officially announced the Thai National Elephant Day to be on March 13th started in 1999. The purpose
is to state the importance Thai Elephant and encourage the urgent conservation plan for Thai Elephants.
Nowadays, the role of Thai elephants and their lives change their jobs become a part of tourism business rather than in transportation, war, or lumber industry. The attempt to produce the art works, is the new dimension of their survival mechanism.
In a natural park, 30 kms from Chiang Mai city, there a group of well-trained elephants which could perform a wide variety of skills which are both amazing and amazing. One could hardly resist the urge to take one home to play with.
Dancing with whistle and music, they could bow and greet tourists just like any human being. They have a number of poses while walking ,jumping, with front right leg and rear left leg, walking with three legs, walking with rear legs, moving forward by kneeing, walking and elegantly, spinning, and balancing, with the log, walking with rear legs, etc.
The elephant could also play ball: the used trunk for rolling, lifting, and kicking balls with people, even acting as a goalie. They can also drag and pile logs.
The next program is riding an elephant for a trip into the forest-two persons plus one elephant tamer on one elephant. On the way, the elephant walks firmly across any path, including a brook and one could enjoy the same feeling of riding an elephant for excursion watching the beautiful sceneries and nature just like the emperor of nobleman in the ancient time.
(NST-401) ELEPHANTS TOUR
Approximately 60 Kms. north of Chiangmai, Situated on the banks of the Ping River, is Chiang Dao Elephant Camp.
In an unspoiled setting, marvel at these colossal beasts of burden performing amazing feats of strength and skill, at the command of their ’mahouts’
Then follows an exhilarating elephant trek through the neighboring jungle, past bamboo tree and hanging creepers, upwards a remote Lisu hilltribe village . The Lisu hilltribe people originated in Tiibet and their villages are usually located in the mountain around 1000 metres . Local lunch is provided. (ride on elephants extra charge)
On return to Chiang Mai, the journey continues by road an Orchid Farm at Mae Sa. Continue on to Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, the center of the Thai flora for botanical study and research. There is ample time to stroll around this scienic area where one of the forest waterfall is also to be found.( Hotel extra charge)

It's about a 30 km drive along the Northwest route from the city to the Elephant Camp at Chiang Dao.
You can watch a demonstration of how trained elephants work in the teak industry and how they are able to preform many other amazing feats. You can also ride on an elephant. (extra charge)
After lunch board a minibus going 7 kms to a unspoiled Meo hilltribe village. Visit tribal huts and see their simple at chiang Dao, primitive ways of living. (Lunch is included).

Drive to the north of Chiang Mai to see how trained elephants are used to help in logging at the Elephant Training Camp in Chiang Dao. Then take an hour ride on a elephant through the jungle. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. After lunch enjoy a ride down Mae Ping River on a Bamboo raft for more than an hour. On the way back make a stop at Orchid farm. (Lunch is included).
